So, loving makeup as much as I do… I love trying new products. Ulta is like my second home. LOL not really but you catch my drift. For me, it is SO much fun! But in the process of trying new stuff out, I obviously am going to come across some products that are not my fave. And I want to show you guys the good the bad and the ugly!
So let me first say… if you use any of these products and you love it… You don’t not need to listen to me. I just want to share with you MY experience, what has worked for me and hopefully I can help you out when searching for great products.I want it to be known that I really like these three brands of make up- Smashbox, Lorac and Becca and I use many of their other products! I will also share with you an alternative that I have found works much better! You can find a more in-depth description and how I use each product in my Whats in my make up bag? post.
First- Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water- This product for me was a little confusing because when I read “primer” I think it should be applied before my makeup but when reading the directions on the bottle it says to spray primer over your make up when finished. I tried both before and after and I was not happy. The point of the product is to make your makeup last all day and stay in place. I didn’t feel like it accomplished that at all. Honestly, I felt like I was just spraying plain old water on my face.
My alternative setting spray that I love is the Mac Prep & Prime Fix & Finishing Mist. I use this product religiously and it truely works. I call it hairspray for my face!
Second- Lorac POREfection concealer-This concealer, for me, sat in my under eye wrinkles and accentuated them. A concealer is supposed to do the exact opposite! I actually found it better used with a small brush under my eye brow to highlight the under shape of my brow. It popped with my brow and eye shadow.
When talking concealers, my fave is NARS Radiant Creamer Conealer. Its the best!
Lastly- Becca Liquid Highligher– This highlighter is so pretty and applies very well but for me, after a week or two of wearing it… I started breaking out in little red bumps exactly where it was applied. Becca, is a great brand and their highlighter is beautiful but now I have found that the powered highlighter works much better. You can control exactly how much you are applying and I apply a lot less then when I was using the liquid. It is call Becca Shimmering Skin Profector Pressed.
So, even though I want to share with you all some of my favorite products and what I recommend… what comes along with the great finds… is the duds. I hope this helps you all in your quest for amazing make up and beautiful skin!
